The Department of History, one of the institution’s premier departments, started its journey in 1986. It offers three-year undergraduate Honours and General Degree Courses under the University of Calcutta. The formative evaluation techniques of class tutorials and test examinations are followed in the curriculum regularly. University examinations are held after the semester as part of the summative evaluation approach. This department is supported by dedicated faculty who constantly endeavor to impart quality education to the students, making them conscious of the contemporary relevance of the subject. Our vision is to encourage the students, and our mission is to inculcate a sense of historicity among them.
The department regularly organizes seminars, webinars, popular lectures, educational tours, book exhibitions, field visits, academic and documentary film festivals, etc. The students and the faculty attend student seminars, conferences organized by other academic institutions.
