Student Facilities

The College identifies its mission as one of the enhancements in the teaching learning, research and extra-curricular activities of the College in quantity as well as quality and to provide the students with valuable support for their progression from the College to further education or the world of life. The College also believes that during their studentship in the College, adequate scope should exist for concession and scholarship, for health — aids, etc.

Women’s Hostel

Netaji Nagar College For Women announces the availability of Lady’s Hostel for quality residential education [ B.A. / B.Sc. ( Honours & General Courses ) ] affiliated to the University of Calcutta . Completely protected and peaceful academic ambience ensured within affordable rates. Comfortable residential facilities and hygenic food . It is a matter of great pride to us that Neaji Nagar College For Women is the only College in the locality having facilities for Women’s Hostel . The College authority expresses thank & gratitude to UGC for providing financial support for construction of 4(four) storied 96 beded Women’s Hostel for the College .
The College is proud in preserving the 10 Kathas 14 Chhataks land at 349/419, N.S.C.Bose Road, Kolkata – 700 092 given by the Honourable Governor of the State of West Bengal for the construction of 4 (four) storied 96 beded Women’s Hostel under the funding of UGC from the grab of Land Shark local promoter.

Concession And Scholarship

Students are entitled to full or partial concessions on their tuition fees. Poor and meritorious students with good behaviour may apply for concession on tuition fees. The College reserves the sole right to grant concession on tuition fees to the students and College Authorities also reserve the right to debar the students from enjoying concessions. A person of great academic interest who wishes to remain anonymous sponsors a scholarship awarded to the students securing top position in University Examination. Apart from scholarship, the College also rewards those students securing 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in their University examinations.

Student’s Aid Fund

College has a standing fund for helping students who are meritorious and poor as well. Aids are given under following heads :
a) Monthly tuition fees.
b) Examination fees (For BPL Students).
c) Purchase of books (on Special Recommendations).

Students’ Health Home

Students of this College are entitled to Student Health Home facilities which include regular health check up on gratis. Under this scheme students are also entitled to avail the facilities for treatment of any serious type of ailment or surgical operation etc. A regional centre for Students’ Health Home is introduced at Bijoygarh Jyotish Roy College so that the students of this locality may take this opportunity at their best convenience.

College Canteen

The College has a canteen which serves light refreshments and various fast-food and snacks at an affordable price to the students and the staff of the College.

College Magazine

A) Wall Magazine : Students actively participate in publishing the wall- magazines of different departments. Four issues of the magazine are published in a year. It encourages the students to contribute their articles on various subjects for publication.
B) Annual Magazine : The college publishes an annual magazine enriched with contributions from members of the staff and the students on various subjects. The magazine helps to kindle the creative talents of the students and the staff of the College.

College Annual Social Function

The College Annual Social Function is organized by the College. Besides the Annual Social Function, the College has regularly arranged, intercollegiate, inter-class and interschool cultural competitions for the development of healthy relationship among the Students communities.

NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME

The NSS unit of the college organizes various types of social work; Medical awareness programmes e.g. Blood donation camp, Eye Testing Camp, Biological and Pathological Testing, Environmental Consciousness and Scientific Awareness Programmes and 7 days special camp in the slum areas. Programme officer of NSS unit is in charge of the NSS activities. The aim and objectives of the N.S.S. include the involving of the youth in constructive and developmental programmes, participation in the socio-economic life of the community, encouraging national integration and so on. Every year volunteers from among the students are enrolled and after the completion of 120 hours of work, certificates are issued by the University.
The NSS Certificate holders get preference in various services and fields. Students are asked to join the NSS from the beginning of the new academic session. In the recent past, the NSS Unit of the College has organized the following Programme:
Awareness Programme on cancer to increase consciousness about cancer.
An AID’s awareness programme to increase consciousness about AID’s and about prevention of AID’s.
Free Medical advice and Distribution of Free medicines among the poor patients.
A Blood donation camp in which students actively participated.
Free eye testing camp in collaboration with Lion’s Hospital,Kolkata.
Environmental and health & hygiene awareness programmes among peoples of slum areas under Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
Development of Medicinal Plants Garden in the College Campus.
From March, 2013 the NSS Unit of the College has been publishing a Newsletter entitled “SPANDAN” to spread the Mission & Vision of NSS among the masses.
Water fair in collaboration with Women’s Studies research centre, University of Calcutta.
Thalassaemia Screening Camp in collaboration with School of Tropical Medicine, Kolkata.
The NSS unit of the college has been awarded as the Best NSS Unit for the session 2012-13 by University of Calcutta.
The NSS unit-II of the college has started from the year 2015-16. Present Programme Officers are:
