Department of Food and Nutrition, Netaji Nagar College For Women was established in the year of 2010. Both Hons. and General degree courses are offered by the department under the affiliation of University of Calcutta. The thrust areas of the courses cover human nutrition, dietetics, community nutrition, food science, public health, geriatric nutrition, food safety, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology and various other areas of science. Both Hons. and General courses have practical papers along with the theoretical papers. Four State Aided College Teachers (SACT) teach various thrust areas of the courses with utter sincerity and passion. Regular classes are taken within the college hours and weaker students are taken special care, if needed. Student’s profile indeed the most important thing to mention about the department, as most of the students are found to be regular, sincere and score good percentage of marks in the University exams. Students also participate in various seminars, workshops and other inter-college competitions. Career building and personality development of the students are the main objectives of the department.
